An Endoscopy procedure is used for veiwing the internal of a hollow organ or body cavity by passing a scope attached to a camera, through an opening..

A health care provider may use endoscopy for any of the following:

  • Investigation of symptoms, such as symptoms in the digestive system including nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, difficulty swallowing, and gastrointestinal bleeding.
  • Confirmation of a diagnosis, most commonly by performing a biopsy to check for conditions such as anemia, bleeding, inflammation, and cancers of the digestive system.
  • Giving treatment, such as cauterization of a bleeding vessel, widening a narrow esophagus, clipping off a polyp or removing a foreign object.

Liver function tests (LFT) are a series of tests performed for the assessment of liver physiology and pathology.
They form the basis of routine diagnosis of various gastrointestinal pathologies haematological conditions and inborn errors of metabolism.

The Workshop includes:

  • Introductive lecture on Endoscopy. Its indications, contraindications, the recent advances in the field and technique.
  • Live demonstration of Esophago-gastro-duodenoscopy procedure on a patient by the faculty of the Department of Gastroenterology, LTMMC & GH.
  • Hands on training of the same procedure on a model.
  • Interpretation of LFT report.
